In the Beginning

In the beginning
God had created
Heaven and earth and sky.
Earth was still formless,
Darkness encompassed,
All of the depth on high.

Spirit of God said
Let there be light and
Light did put forth a ray.
God saw the light and
Knew it was good so
Evening began that day.

Evening and morning,
Morning and evening,
Year after year rolled past.
Men turned to evil,
Choosing the darkness,
'Till the time came, at last.

In the beginning
Was the one Word and
Word was with God alone.
Word was with God and
Word was the God who
came to, each one, atone.

Heavenly Father,
This is my prayer,
Help me to love the Lord.
Reading the Bible,
Loving each other,
Help me to live your word.
